SB 699551 dihydrochloride is also known as (3-cyclopentyl-N-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-N-[(4′-{[(2-phenylethyl)amino]methyl}-4-biphenylyl)methyl]propanamide dihydrochloride).[2] It is considered as a useful tool to explain the physiological roles of the 5-ht5A receptor.[2]
SB-699551 is a 5-HT5A receptor antagonist, (pKi = 8.3) with 100-fold selectivity over other 5-HT receptor populations. SB-699551 completely blocks 5-HT-induced [35S]GTPγS membrane binding in cells expressing recombinant guinea pig 5-HT-5A.
