Aflatoxins are hepatotoxic metabolites,[1] that are produced by molds, such as, Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus.[2] They are naturally occurring poisonous carcinogens and the most widely known mycotoxins.[3] They are associated with liver cancer[3] and immune system suppression.[2]

Aflatoxin G1 from Aspergillus flavus has been used as a standard for the determination of aflatoxin in various samples.[4][5][6]
