Antimony(III) chloride (SbCl₃) is a Lewis acid catalyst that is used in various organic reactions such as polymerization, Friedel-Crafts acylations, reductions with NaBH₄, ring opening of epoxides, cleavage of trityl ethers, Biginelli and chlorination reactions. It is also used as a precursor to synthesize other antimony salts.
